South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is reportedly gearing up for the release of a successor for its Optimus 7 smartphone that arrived on the market last year with Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system on board.

Most probably, the company will bring the new device on the market sometime in fall, as soon as the Redmond-based software giant makes available the new flavor of its mobile operating system, dubbed Mango.

When launched on the market, the new LG mobile phone should sport the model number E906, at least this is what a recently spotted UAProfile shows.

Based on the fact that the original Optimus 7 arrived on the market with model number E900 attached to it, it seems quite safe to assume that the new handset will be released as its successor, that's for sure.

Although no specific info on the matter has emerged until now, it also seems a bet safe that the new handset will run under Windows Phone Mango.

Apparently, the info available from the said UAProfile shows that the upcoming E906 would sport a similar design with the Optimus 7, though there would still be various differences between the two.

Among them, we can count the inclusion of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) browser into the mix, instead of the original IE7.

Some suggest that LG might launch the new device only as a small refresh for the Optimus 7, since there will be only a few hardware/software modifications from a device to the other.

Undoubtedly, LG will also bring to the market new hardware that runs under Windows Phone Mango, though it remains to be seen whether the new devices will actually sport so many similarities with the E906 and the already available E900.

Microsoft is expected to have the new OS flavor available on shelves sometime in October, which means that more info on this LG handset, and on any other devices that the company might plan on releasing with Mango on board, might emerge before that.
