South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is getting ready for the release of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform upgrade for a handful of older Optimus devices, and it has already unveiled plans on the matter.

The company has decided to post on its Facebook page details on when users might see the update arriving on their smartphones, though we’re not sure whether said details indeed refer to all markets out there, since they come from LG Brazil.

Considering the fact that LG has rolled out new platform upgrades internationally until now, we can assume that the new OS iteration will indeed arrive on all markets too.

What LG Brazil has disclosed on the aforementioned social networking site is the fact that LG Optimus G Pro is set to receive the update before the end of this month.

Earlier today, info coming from India has unveiled that the new platform iteration is already being rolled out to users in this country, which suggests that more of them will be receiving it sooner rather than later.

Moreover, the company has confirmed plans to release said Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to the owners of LG Optimus G smartphones too.

The handset is two years old, and LG’s decision to continue offering support for it will certainly make many users happy. However, those who own the smartphone will have to wait until August before being able to download and install the new platform upgrade.

In addition to these two smartphones, LG will also update a series of other models to the newer OS iteration, including the L7 II handsets, along with the dual-SIM G Pro Lite devices.

Unfortunately, it appears that some phones will be left out of the Android 4.4 KitKat update, and among these are handsets such as the LG Optimus 4X HD and LG Optimus F5.

With the release of Android 4.4.2 KitKat on LG Optimus G and LG Optimus G Pro smartphones, the handset vendor will bring these older devices in line with what newer models such as LG G2 and LG G3 have to offer, as GSMArena notes.

While no specific info on what the update will provide users with has been offered as of now, we do know that it will bring along features such as wireless printing, an immersive mode, visual changes, redesigned status and notification bars, and improved security and performance.

Most probably, LG will offer some additional details on the availability of this new platform upgrade for said devices in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
