Canadian mobile phone users should soon have the possibility to enjoy a new handset running under Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 operating system in the country, namely the LG Optimus Quantum, which is expected to become available for purchase in the near future at SaskTel.

The wireless carrier already confirmed plans to make this device available for purchase on its airwaves, though it did not announce a specific release date for this Windows Phone 7 smartphone.

“Good news for fans of Windows 7 Phones...the LG Optimus Quantum is coming soon to SaskTel,” the wireless carrier announced via Twitter.

For what it's worth, the LG Optimus Quantum should prove a nice addition to the carrier's offering, especially for those users who like staying up to date with what their friends are doing on social networking sites and more.

The video embedded at the bottom of this article should offer a quick presentation of what the mobile phone and the Windows Phone 7 platform it runs under are capable of delivering.

When made available for purchase at the carrier, the LG Optimus Quantum will rock a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, along with a full 4-row QWERTY keyboard, which slides open from under the 3.5-inch touchscreen display the device packs.

Moreover, we should note that the screen delivers a 480 x 800 pixels resolution, and that the new device also comes with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with LED flash and with 720p video recording capabilities.

The specifications list of this Windows Phone 7 handset also includes a 3.5 mm headset jack, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options, in addition to support for 3G networks. The phone weighs in at 180 grams.

As stated above, the wireless carrier did not announce a specific release date for the new mobile phone, nor did it unveil info on the price tag at which the LG Optimus Quantum would be put on sale.
