Straight Talk has just added a new handset to its lineup of smartphones, the LG Optimus Q, which is now available for purchase on prepaid.

LG Optimus Q is Straight Talk's second Android smartphone, after the company introduced the Samsung Precedent back in August.

Potential customers can purchase the LG Optimus Q via Straight Talk for only $179.99 (130 EUR) and choose one of the two plans offered by the MVNO carrier.

For those unfamiliar with Straight Talk's operations, the company offers its services via AT&T, T-Mobile USA, Sprint and Verizon Wireless networks, but all Android smartphones operate exclusively on Sprint's network.

Currently, Straight Talk offers two no-contract plans, the “ALL YOU NEED” plan for $30 monthly, which gets customers 1000 minutes, 1000 text or multimedia messages, 30 MB of data and 411 calls at no additional charge.

The second plan offered by Straight Talk is the $45/month unlimited plan that offers customers unlimited talk, text and data nationwide anytime for one month.

The recent addition to Straight Talk's portfolio of smartphone, the Optimus Q is a mid-range Android smartphone, which is slightly better than the Samsung Precedent.

The device comes with a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, as well as a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, allowing for fast and accurate typing.

On the back, the Optimus Q features a 3-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities.

It is also worth mentioning that the LG Optimus Q comes with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), as well as free 4GB memory card in the sales package.

Software-wise, the Optimus Q runs Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and provides access to more customization options via Android Market.

Customers who want to purchase the device should know that Straight Talk's LG Optimus Q only works with the $45 per month Unlimited Service Plan.
