LG Optimus Pad and Motorola XOOM, two of the most appealing tablet PCs that would arrive on shelves in Europe during the ongoing year with Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system on board, have just made an appearance at a German retailer. Both devices were officially announced last month during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, as being on their way to the European market in the near future, and they already started to emerge on various retailer websites.
We already spotted the
Motorola XOOM at UK retailers, which would bring to the local market both the WiFi-only and the WiFi + 3G models of the device, and now we can see it listed in Germany too.
Sporting a price tag of €699,95 attached to it, the Motorola XOOM tablet PC can be seen on Amazon.de
here.
Unfortunately, the listing does not offer info on which version of the device would Amazon.de launch in the country, but, based on the fact that T-Mobile announced plans to have the 3G-capable device priced similarly starting with late April, we could presume that the retailer is referring to the same flavor.
As for
LG Optimus Pad, it can be seen listed at Amazon.de
here. We could not find reference to shipping date or price tag, but Engadget notes in a recent
article that the device was listed with a price tag of €899 attached to it.
The 8.9-inch Android Honeycomb tablet was said at one point to cost €999 when launched in the country, but the price seems to have been slashed, and it might get lowered even more. After all, the device was said
to land in the US at only $699.
For those who might not be familiar with the device, we should note that it comes with an Nvidia Tegra 2 Pcu inside, a 3D-capable touchscreen display, 3D recording capabilities, WiFi connectivity, support for various Google services and for mobile applications, and more.
It should not be too long before these devices become available for purchase in Germany, so stay tuned for more info on them.
