LG's first Honeycomb tablet, the Optimus Pad is now available for purchase in Canada via Rogers for as low as $449.99 with a new three-years agreement or $699.99 without contract.

The Optimus Pad joins the carrier's already large lineup of tablets that comprises Samsung Galaxy Tab, Dell Streak and BlackBerry PlayBook.

The tablet is built around NVIDIA's powerful 1GHz Tegra 2 dual-core processor and the unique 8.9-inch display.

As LG officials mentioned, the company decided to go with an unusual 8.9-inch display after conducting a series of market surveys among its customers.

According to LG, the 8.9-inch display offers native 1280×768 resolution and 15:9 aspect ratio, which is perfect for a smooth visual experience on a tablet.

Speaking of visual experience, LG Optimus Pad features a array of advanced multimedia features such as a 3D camera and full HD 1080p video capability.

The device can actually capture images and video in 3D thanks to the dual 5 megapixel cameras with LED flash, as well as camcorder which can record 1080p@24fps (2D) and 720@30fps (3D) videos.

The Optimus Pad features video calling support and HDMI content mirroring for viewing on larger displays via HDMI cable, which is included in the sales package.

The tablet offers Wi-Fi plus internet access with download speeds up to 14.4 Mbps on Rogers' network. In addition, the Optimus Pad can be used as mobile hotspot for up to 8 Wi-Fi enabled devices.

Thanks to the Android 3.0 Honeycomb, the tablet enables rich web browsing with Adobe Flash 10.2 and HTML 5 support, faster performance, multi-pane email, live widgets, as well as quick access to enhanced Google Mobile Services (Gmail, Chrome browser, Maps, Google Talk, YouTube).

LG Optimus Pad is powered by a 6000 mAh Li-Ion battery that should provide up to 273 hours of standby time or up to 10 hours of functioning.
