South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics was long rumored to plan the launch of its LG Optimus One handset on the US market via wireless carrier Verizon Wireless, and some more info on the matter has just emerged.

As previously reported, the handset should arrive on Big Red's airwaves as the LG Vortex, and it seems October 18th would be the day when this should happen.

Moreover, the handset vendor is reportedly preparing the release of Optimus One via other carriers in the country too, including Sprint and T-Mobile, both expected to receive their units starting with November.

According to a recent article on Yonhap News, LG already announced officially these plans, unveiling that the smartphone is set to land on the market in Europe too starting with October 18th.

In addition to the United States, set to get the Optimus One on Verizon's network, France, Switzerland, Austria and Romania would also receive the phone on that day, on airwaves of wireless carrier Orange, the company reportedly announced.

“LG Electronics plans to achieve the sales goal of 10 million units to demonstrate its innovative competence in the smartphone realm,” an LG Electronics official said.

The LG Optimus One comes to the market with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, while being powered by Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

Moreover, it appears that LG would plan on making it available for purchase in a number of no less than five color options.

This is not the first time LG is said to plan the release of Optimus One on the market in the US, though nothing official on the matter was unveiled until now.

However, in case LG Vortex would indeed land at Verizon on October 18, the mobile phone maker should make an official announcement in the near future, so keep an eye on this space for more info on the matter.
