Officially unveiled back in August, LG Optimus L9 hit shelves in November 2012 with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box.

However, LG confirmed the Optimus L9 would receive a Jelly Bean upgrade at some point this year. It happens quite rarely, but LG has just delivered as promised.

According to GSMArena, LG Optimus L9 users in Europe have started to receive an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update notification on their devices.

For the time being, the update is available in the Baltics region, Germany, Spain, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania and for the unlocked units in Europe.

Keep in mind that while the update is pushed OTA (over the air), Optimus L9 owners can also upgrade their phones via LG Update tool.

The update has about 575MB in size and brings lots of new features and improvements, including Project Butter, Google Now and better search function. For more details on the update, check out the original thread on XDA Developers forum.
