LG launched the Optimus L5 in Canada about a week ago, and today SaskTel added the smartphone to its portfolio as well.

SaskTel customers can now purchase the LG Optimus L5 for as low as $25 CAD with a new three-year agreement. Additional pricing options include $70 CAD on a two-year contract and $100 CAD on a one-year agreement.

The carrier also offers customers the possibility to purchase the Optimus L5 on prepaid or monthly plan for only $150 CAD upfront.

LG Optimus L5 is a real bargain especially that it’s powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform integrated with LG’s Optimus 3.0 user interface. In addition, LG confirms that smartphone comes with Quick Memo pre-installed to further enhance user’s experience.

Unfortunately, this is the only thing that makes the Optimus L5 appealing to the masses. The smartphone is equipped with a low-performance 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7225A Snapdragon processor, an Adreno 200 graphics processing unit and 512MB of RAM.

Even though the smartphone sports a large 4.0-inch capacitive touchscreen, it only supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution.

As we have already mentioned, the insides of the handset are far from being impressive. The LG Optimus L5 embeds 4GB storage (2.5GB user available), which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

There’s also a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, but the smartphone lacks a secondary front-facing camera for video calls.

The phone’s 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 900 hours of standby time or up to 10 hours of talk time (9 hours in 3G mode).

On a side note, LG Optimus L5 is also available for purchase in Canada from Bell and Virgin Mobile, but SaskTel seems to match or even outsell their deals on this device. Check it out here.
