Mobile phone carrier AT&T has started to deliver a new software update for the owners of LG Optimus G Pro smartphones on its networks, providing them with a variety of enhancements.

The new firmware is available for download over-the-air via Wi-Fi, the wireless carrier announced. The rollout kicked off on January 8, 2014.

As soon as the update is available for their devices, users will receive a notification on the matter and will be able to download the new software right away.

Unfortunately, the update does not bring along a new Android platform version for this device, though the improvements included in it should still be welcomed by all users.

Owners of the LG Optimus G Pro will be able to take photos using both the front and back cameras of the handset, and also to pause and resume video recordings.

The full release notes for the new update shows the following:

- Closed Captioning: Closed captioning option will appear in full screen mode for video files that are closed captioning supported.

- Battery and Data icons in AT&T apps folder: You now have quick and easy access from your device home screen in the AT&T folder to manage data usage or optimize battery life.

- Dual camera: You can take still photos using the front and rear camera at the same time.

- Video pause and resume: You can pause and resume while recording a video.

- Smart video: With eye detection, if you stop watching a video, the video will pause.

- Home button LED: You can set the home button LED for "Favorite" contacts. Go to "Favorite" contact > Edit > Home Button LED.

At the same time, following the update, LG Optimus G Pro will allow users to set notifications for unused applications through going to Settings > Apps > Menu key > Unused apps.

Before proceeding with the update, users should consider backing up all data on their devices, so as to make sure that no important files are lost during the process. However, the installation of the new firmware should not impact users’ data, AT&T notes on its support website.
