The mobile phone might become official in the near future

Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is reportedly gearing up for the launch of a new LG handset as part of its pre-paid lineup, and a leaked press render with the device is now available for your viewing pleasure.

The phone will supposedly land at the operator as LG Optimus Exceed 2, and should be unveiled as the successor of Optimus Exceed, which was released roughly a year ago.

Although the handset is not official as of now, a press render that emerged online courtesy of @evleaks provides us with a close look at it.

No specific info on when the device could become available for purchase has been provided so far, but chances are that it will be introduced soon. Details on pricing have yet to emerge as well.

What remains to be seen is whether the new LG Optimus Exceed 2 will indeed sport this name when launched, considering the fact that LG has actually removed the Optimus denomination from many of its devices.

At the same time, we’re curious to learn more on what the phone will have to offer in terms of hardware specs and capabilities.

One thing that the leaked press photo appears to confirm is the fact that there will be no 4G LTE connectivity packed inside the handset (there’s no logo on its back to indicate support for the technology).

In fact, as PhoneArena notes, LG Optimus Exceed did not include the capability either, despite the fact that it was launched as a version of LG Lucid, which was capable to connect to the wireless carrier’s 4G LTE network.

Although info on LG Optimus Exceed 2’s hardware is not available, the phone is expected to include better capabilities compared to the predecessor, which means that it will have at least a 4-inch touchscreen display.

Moreover, it could arrive on shelves with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor packed inside, and with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or newer loaded on top. A camera of at least 5 megapixels is also expected to be present on the phone’s back.

Verizon has a nice range of affordable LG devices available for purchase on its network, and the launch of LG Optimus Exceed 2 will fit perfectly in the lineup, that’s for sure.

As mentioned above, no official confirmation on the existence of this smartphone has been offered as of now, but details on it could arrive soon, so keep an eye on this space to learn more on the matter.
