The eco-friendly LG Optimus Elite is already available for purchase in the US via Sprint’s online store for only $29.99 USD with a new two-year agreement.

Furthermore, Sprint mentioned that the Optimus Elite would be available through additional retail channels beginning May 18, though no other details have been given.

Moreover, the carrier confirmed that the smartphone would also arrive at its sub-brand Virgin Mobile, though it did not reveal an exact release date or price tag.

Well, it looks like Virgin Mobile has just listed the Optimus Elite on its online store and is now taking pre-orders for the smartphone.

Virgin Mobile customers who wish to pre-order the LG Optimus Elite can do so for only $149.99 USD outright. The carrier suggests that the handset is expected to ship on May 15.

The entry-level Optimus Elite is powered by Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread operating system and packs a low-performance 800 MHz single-core processor.

The insides of the phone are far from being impressive as the Optimus Elite embeds only 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

In the front, the smartphone sports a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution. There’s also a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper that features autofocus, LED flash and video recorder.

Last but not least, LG Optimus Elite drains energy from a 1520 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 7.5 hours of talk time. Check it out here.

This great-looking device is loaded with powerful features. Experience Android on a large 3.5" screen, tap to pay with Google Wallet, and choose from hundreds of thousands of apps in Google Play. All that, combined with Unlimited Data & Messaging, puts the Optimus Elite™ a cut above the common smartphone,” – Virgin Mobile.
