The smartphone, officially unveiled during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January, was already announced to be on its way to the market in the Europe starting with this month.

At the wireless carrier, the handset was made available for free on monthly plans that start at £25.54 a month (with internet Booster included).

Based on Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, the new device offers one of the brightest screens in the world.

“The LG Optimus Black's 4" LCD touchscreen is clear and bright. NOVA technology means it's easy to read, even in bright sunlight, and it uses 50% less battery power than OLED screens,” T-Mobile notes on its website.

“The crisp colors make browsing easier, too. It uses Android 2.2, which runs more than twice as fast as 2.1 and has 20 new features, including the ability to store apps on your SD card.”

Moreover, the new device comes with a powerful 1GHz application processor inside, with support for memory cards of up to 32GB, and with fast access to various Google Mobile Services.

The smartphone also comers with 3G connectivity capabilities, WiFi and Bluetooth, built-in GPS receiver, a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB port, and the usual set of sensors.

“A 5 megapixel camera and HD video recording mean you can capture everything on your LG Optimus Black. Plus, there's a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video calling,” the wireless carrier continues.

“WiFi Direct is a clever piece of technology that means you can connect your LG Optimus Black to other wireless devices without a router. That means you can send your videos and photos to a compatible TV for easy, big-screen viewing.”
