The smartphone should hit shelves by the end of the year

Rumored for a September release in the U.S., LG Optimus Black is close to missing its Autumn launch. Although the smartphone was introduced in Europe about six months, the Korean handset maker has yet to make it available in the U.S.

However, it appears that the folks over at Pocketnow spotted the smartphone with U.S. Cellular's logo and a different name tagged to it, LG Majestic.

If the picture is valid, it looks like there are no major changes when it comes to design, so customers should expect the same premium device announced by LG in January 2011.

It will be interesting to see if the LG Majestic will be launched with Android 2.2 Froyo on board, or it will run a newer Gingerbread platform.

No word on the phone's release date or price options, but the carrier should make an official announcement within the next few weeks.
