Initially expected to be launched in UK via T-Mobile, the Optimus Black has just been listed by Orange on its 'Coming Soon' page.

Although the two major carriers have formed an alliance in the UK, known as Everything Everywhere, it will be interesting to find which of the two operators will be releasing the Optimus Black first.

Reading from the phone's information page, it appears that the Orange Optimus Black will be available for free with select monthly plans, but depending on the value of the plan the phone might cost more or less.

The LG Optimus Black has been released in South Korea last week, after it was previously announced four months ago during the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show.

Just like the Optimus 2X, the Optimus Black runs the Android 2.2 Froyo platform, along with LG's Optimus 2.0 and Gesture 2.0 user-friendly interfaces.

However, it appears that LG has plans to deliver the latest Gingerbread platform to both smartphones by the end of the year, though it has yet to announce a precise date.

Unlike the Optimus 2X, which has just entered the Guinness Book of World Records for being the first phone in the world to feature a dual-core processor, the Optimus Black is touted as one of the brightest on the mobile market.

LG takes pleasure in offering users maximum clarity with LG Optimus Black's 4.0-inch NOVA display capable of emitting 700 nits (candela per square meter).

The phone's screen features 16 million colors support, 480 x 800 pixels resolution, as well as accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

Furthermore, the Korean handset maker takes pride in the fact that the Optimus Black can offer a longer battery time and unparalleled energy efficiency, despite the increased brightness of its display.

Equipped with a Texas Instruments OMAP 3630 1 GHz processor, the device offers multiple connectivity options such as HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA function, Wi-Fi Direct-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR support.
