South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is reportedly gearing up for the launch of a new smartphopne that would be included in its Optimus family of devices, namely the LG Optimus Big.

Among the main features of this new mobile phone, we can count the fact that it would sport a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display, using the same NOVA technology as on the LG Optimus Black.

For those out of the loop, we should note that LG introduced the LG Optimus Black a few months ago with the said NOVA display, said to be the brightest screen on a smartphone today.

No official confirmation on the existence of this device emerged for the time being, but rumor has it that it might become official as soon as next month, and that it would arrive on shelves at Korea's LG U+ wireless operator.

LG advertises the NOVA display as offering more brightness than iPhone 4's Retina display would be capable to offer, and it seems that it is also set to prove that the technology can work on larger screens.

The large 4.3-inch NOVA display the Optimus Big would sport is reportedly complemented by a 1GHz processor, just as the Optimus Black would include. A T-DMB TV tuner should also be included into the mix.

Since LG already released a dual-core device, one might have expected for newer, high-end devices from the company to arrive on shelves with a similar application processor inside, but it seems that this is not the case right now.

However, as stated above, the new mobile phone was not confirmed as of yet, and chances are that it would prove to be a little different when released. Most probably, the phone is Android-based.

Until more info on the said LG Optimus Big and its NOVA display emerge, you can have a look at the available photo with it, to make an idea of what might be coming to the market.
