South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is expected to bring to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this month the first smartphone that would pack 3D capabilities inside, namely the LG Optimus 3D, a device also expected to hit the shelves in the UK at least at two carriers, Three and Vodafone.

The new LG Optimus 3D was already confirmed to be on its way to the MWC 2011 show as the world’s first 3D smartphone, but no specific info on its market availability emerged until now.

Apparently, Vodafone UK already confirmed that it would carry the smartphone in the near future, a recent article on ElectricPig reads. “It will come to Vodafone. As soon as it’s launched, we will bring it to the UK,” the carrier stated.

No specific release date for the handset was made available for the time being, but more would certainly be unveiled in a few weeks at the MWC show.

The Optimus 3D was announced as headed for the market with both playback and recording capabilities when it comes to 3D content.

“The LG Optimus 3D addresses the lack of 3D content issue -- one of the biggest problems facing the 3D market -- with a complete platform for a one-of-a-kind experience on a mobile device,” LG explains.

“LG’s most advanced smartphone to date will feature a dual-lens camera for 3D recording, a glasses-free LCD panel for 3D viewing and diverse connectivity options such as HDMI and DLNA for 3D content sharing anytime, anywhere.”

A recently published video teaser from the company seems to sharing more details on this device, such as the fact that it would also include a dual-core application processor, and other capabilities more.

With the MWC show set to kick off on February 14th, more info on the handset would become available at that time, so stay tuned for more.
