One of the first 3D phones announced this year, the long-awaited LG Optimus 3D has been officially introduced in Europe.

Unveiled earlier this year during the 2011 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the LG Optimus 3D is an innovative smartphone that features second-generation dual core technology and an advanced “Tri-Dual” architecture.

Thanks to its Tri-Dual architecture, the LG Optimus 3D's performance is well beyond that of other smartphones.

According to LG, the phone features a dual-channel configuration, which means that data transfers take place simultaneously between the dual-core and dual-memory, resulting in consistently faster performance.

With the innovative LG 3D technology users won't need glasses to enjoy 3D recording, viewing and sharing while operating the Optimus 3D smartphone.

Tri-Dual architecture opens up a whole new world in smartphone performance. As the latest offering in our Optimus line-up, we expect there will be significant interest from those who seek the very latest in smartphone technology and are excited about 3D as the next big frontier in mobile devices,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company.

Furthermore, the handset allows users to capture high-quality 3D content with 3D video stabilization technology and real-time misalignment correction algorithm which automatically corrects for shake during recording.

The Optimus 3D comes with a larger 4.3-inch WVGA multi-touch display and runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo) platform.

Users can share all the captured 3D content with 3D TVs via an HDMI 1.4 connection using a DLNA Certified device. In addition, users can upload and stream 3D content on YouTube's dedicated 3D channel.

On related news, LG Optimus 3D is delivered with the world's first 3D augmented reality (AR) browser, which was developed in collaboration with AR pioneer Wikitude.

LG Optimus 3D is now available in Europe, but it will soon be launched in more than 60 markets around the world in the coming weeks.
