LG Optimus 2X has just been certified as being the first dual-core smartphone in the world, but it seems that there have been some issues with the device, which should be fixed in a software update about to be released from LG's headquarters. Soon after purchasing their first LG Optimus 2X units, users started to complain about various issues that emerged with their units.

A few months ago, reports on random reboots or freezes with the device started to emerge. Moreover, in some cases, the device was plagued with overheating while being charged with the stock charger.

“LG is aware that a few Optimus 2x customers are occasionally experiencing random device shut-offs. While this does not affect every customer, LG regrets the inconvenience this has caused,” the company stated recently, Techradar reports.

“We have determined the cause of the problem and have developed a software maintenance update to remedy this.”

Apparently, the new software update was not meant only to fix the aforementioned issues with the mobile phone, but also to add new features into the mix and to enhance the experience users would receive from the handset.

In a recent post on its Facebook page, the mobile phone maker explains what the new software update, set to be released anywhere between now and the end of the month, would include:

To all users of the LG Optimus 2X! As it is always important to keep your smarpthone updated, we're sharing with you that there will be a software update starting mid to end of May.

This month's updates will include improved multimedia player support such as reinforced video format and music/video player functions as well as a more stabilized patch to prevent rebooting/freezing that are occurring for some users.

The mobile phone maker also notes that they are committed to provide users with the best experience possible, and that users who experienced problems with their devices should get in touch with their local LG service centers to learn more on the availability of the new fix.
