LG introduced the Optimus 2X in India back in May for a suggested retail price of Rs 29,000 (565 USD or 425 EUR). However, the smartphone’s price has just been slashed which might indicate that the handset is not that popular among Android fans in India.

Hopefully, after the recent price cut, the Optimus 2X will be more successful in the Indian market. Currently, retailer Letsbuy is selling the smartphone for only Rs 19,999 (390 USD or 290 EUR), which is a lot less than the original price.

On the flipside, Flipkart is keeping the same high price for the Optimus 2X, but the device is currently out of stock and there are slim chances that the retailer will receive more units anytime soon.

Those unfamiliar with the Optimus 2X should know that “from the form to the finish and well-placed physical keys, the device is of commendable build quality.”

Touted world’s first smartphone to feature a dual core processor, the Optimus 2X is powered by Android 2.2 Froyo, but is about to receive the long-awaited Gingerbread upgrade by the end of the year.

The smartphone is also known as Optimus Speed and measures 123.9 x 63.2 x 10.9 mm, while its 139g (battery included) weight makes it only a bit heavy.

The Optimus 2X comes with a large 4.0-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that boasts 480 x 800 pixels resolution, which is protected against scratches by Gorilla glass display.

In a world of dual-core smartphones the Optimus 2X seems to be only an entry-level device, as the phone is equipped with a 1 GHz dual core NVIDIA Tegra2 processor, which is rather low in comparison with today’s 1.4 – 1.5 GHz CPUs.

On the inside, the smartphone packs 8 GB onboard memory, 512 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB). There’s also an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front facing photo snapper for video calls.
