South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has just announced that its LG Optimus 2X smartphone, the first handset launched on shelves with a dual-core application processor inside, would become available for purchase in Europe starting with this month.The smartphone already arrived on shelves in South Korea in January, and is now on its way to multiple European countries.
Packing an NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile dual-core CPU inside,
the smartphone can deliver impressive performance levels when it comes to web browsing and gaming, the handset vendor announced.
According to LG, the new device can offer seamless multitasking between applications, as well as increased responsiveness, not to mention that it would provide users with vivid graphics and a console-like gaming experience.
“The LG Optimus 2X's enhanced speed, advanced graphics and high-end features such as HDMI mirroring are the kind of high-end features that appeal to European consumers,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company.
“With the Optimus 2X, we're setting the tone for what will be a huge year for LG's smartphones in Europe and worldwide.”
The features list of the new device also includes a full HD multimedia experience with 1080p video recording and playback, as well as the possibility to view content on larger TVs or PC monitors courtesy of HDMI mirroring.

The smartphone also comes with a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen display, 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front camera, 7.1 multi-channel virtual surround sound, 8GB of memory and microSD memory card slot (supports up to 32GB of additional storage space), Adobe Flash Player 10.1 support, and a 1,500 mAh battery.
The smartphone arrives on shelves with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system pre-loaded, but would be upgraded to 2.3 Gingerbread in the not too far future, the company announced.
