After a few months of teasing, LG GD880, aka Mini, has finally hit the shelves and promises interesting features. Announced just in time for the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, LG Mini is the first HTML 5-compatible feature mobile phone.

The candybar form factor makes it stylish and sleek, but that has been LG's common standard for some time now. As proof that design is the part where the company always shines, the handheld received a red dot award and iF product design award in March.

LG Mini measures 102.0 x 47.6 x 10.6 mm, weighs 99g (including battery), and boasts a large 3.2-inch TFT touchscreen that supports 262k colors and 480 x 854 pixel resolution. The main highlight of the bar phone is called Phantom Browser, which promises to offer a much faster and more stable internet experience than usual, as well as better flexibility by being able to open up to ten tabs at the same time.

Overall, the phone seems to be more Internet-oriented than the Korean company accustomed its fans, as it includes lots of special internet applications and social network connection features.

To remind you some of these internet tools, LG Mini fully supports Google’s Latitude, Gmail, Calendar, Google Maps and Google Buzz services. It also has improved JavaScript and Flash performance, which usually means smooth video playback from YouTube.

Users will have a great time browsing the Internet, as the handset takes advantage of Intelligent Zoom and Touch-to-Zoom features, which will optimize each webpage for reading on Mini’s screen.

Other technical specs of the phone include: Push Email, 5.0-megapixel camera (with geo-tagging, face and smile detection, image stabilization), Wi-Fi, A-GPS, FM radio and 7.2 Mbps HDSPA, as well as 3.5 mm audio jack. LG Mini will be available in April, starting in Europe, followed by other regions, for prices that will vary country-to-country. The recommended tag seems to be around 350 Euros.
