LG is among the few handset manufacturers that has yet to announce its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade strategy for its smartphones.

After the initial shock that followed LG's statement that an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for the Optimus 2X will not be rolled out, numerous LG smarpthones owners expressed their disappointment and promised they will never buy another LG device again.

It looks like the Korean handset maker is sensible to its customers' needs and came forward with another official announcement that states the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade will be pushed to all Optimus 2X devices after all.

In addition, the company confirmed that other high-end smartphones like Optimus 3D and Optimus Black and possibly other models will receive the Android 4.0 upgrade as well.

The short statement was published on LG's official Facebook account, so the company can receive users' feedback on the matter:

LG firmly denies the rumors that claim LG will not be providing the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS update for the LG Optimus 2X. These rumors are NOT true. LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones. Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.”

Even though the company has yet to announce any release dates for the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade, we can safely assume that this won't happen this year.

In fact, LG users have complained for quite a while for the repeated delay of the Gingerbread update for smartphones such as the Optimus 3D, which is still stuck on Android 2.2 Froyo.

If it takes LG one year to push the Gingerbread upgrade to a powerful smartphone such as the Optimus 3D, it will be interesting to see how much it will take for the company to deliver the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
