LG Migo with GPS

A federal mandate forced producers to mount a GPS chip or find another way to locate an emergency 911 call, that costs the producers billions.

In order to recoup the costs, Verizon Wireless plans to launch a child-tracking service named Verizon
Chaperone in May, this being one of several location-based services that Verizon plans to roll out this summer.

LG Migo keeps the primary functions of a regular cellphone but with Verizon Chaperone, the phone can be tracked. This will cost from $10 to $15 per month including a geofacing feature, so if the child enters a forbidden area it will prompt the parents with a text message.

Another Verizon concept is a navigation service called VZ Navigator that provides turn-by-turn driving directions.
The only negative aspect is the possibility of service abuses. Hackers could crack into a location database or persons looking to harm a child would be able to use the system to locate the victim.
