14 DAY TRIAL // Recently launched at Boost Mobile on Shrinkage, the LG Marquee is now available for free at Sprint, for a limited time. In addition, the carrier has put the Samsung Transform Ultra on sale as well, as customers can grab this one for free now.
Although the carrier does not specify when exactly the time limited offer will end, there’s a high chance that they will both end up being available for free until they get discontinued.
LG Marquee and Samsung Transform Ultra have similar specs sheets but are aimed at different targets. While the former is a standard bar phone, the latter makes as an excellent messaging phone courtesy to the full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
The upcoming availability of the LG Viper, which is an enhanced LG Marquee, and Samsung Galaxy Nexus is probably one of the reasons that Sprint wishes to get rid of these two budget-friendly Android smartphones.
Hardware-wise, LG Marquee and Samsung Transform Ultra are equipped with 1 GHz single core processors, which are complemented by Adreno 205 graphics processing units.
The LG device packs 4GB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included), while the Samsung smartphone embeds only 950 MB onboard memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).
LG Marquee has a larger 4.0-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixels resolution, while the Samsung Transform Ultra packs a slightly smaller 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with 320 x 480 pixels resolution.
Both smartphones are powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, but the Marquee comes with LG’s proprietary Optimus UI and Gesture UI on top.
In addition, the Marquee sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls. The Transform Ultra features only a 3-megapixel main camera and a VGA secondary camera.
