To hit the market in the near future

A new LG touchscreen phone recently appeared on the FCC website, named LG MS25/MS20 by the Federal Communications Commission. Sure, the phone doesn't look new, as it appears to be LG KS20, which is available in Europe from the beginning of November 2007, but the details given by FCC show us that the device has different specifications than the KS20 model. So we figured the MS25 is an improved version of the LG KS20, modified to suit the North American mobile market.

While LG KS20 has a 2.8 inch display, the MS25 comes with a 3.0 inch 320 X 240 pixel QVGA touchscreen, which resembles the LG Prada and LG KU990 Viewty touchscreens. The User Manual of LG MS25, made available by FCC, says the device is a "3G video mobile phone", which brings another resemblance with the KU990 Viewty model.

The new LG MS25 operates on Windows Mobile 6.1 and packs a 2.0 Megapixel camera with flash and avi / mp4 / 3gp / wmv playback support. The handset measures more than LG KS20, coming with a height of 103 millimeters and a width of 58 millimeters. There's no detail about its thickness, but it's probably somewhere around 12 millimeters. LG MS25 also offers Bluetooth and EDGE connectivity, FM Radio, microSD card support, a talk-time of up to 5 hours and a stand-by time of maximum 200 hours, data cable, hands-free ear microphone and music controller.

It looks like the smartphone will be available via AT&T, as its frequency bands are the ones that AT&T uses. Although in the FCC pictures the handset appears with the Vodafone logo we all know Vodafone doesn't operate in the US. Well, not directly, because it has a 45% share of Verizon Wireless.

To sum it up, LG MS25/MS20 seems to be a device that combines the best features from LG Prada and LG Viewty, thus it will appeal to many US mobile users.
