As expected, Verizon Wireless has just confirmed that it will carry the sequel to the LG Lucid mid-range Android smartphone.

The new device is called LG Lucid 2 and it will go on sale tomorrow via Verizon’s online store. According to the carrier, the handset will arrive at its brick and mortar stores in the coming months.

LG fans will be able to grab the Lucid 2 for free with a new two-year agreement. No word on the no-term price tag for the moment.

LG Lucid 2 will ship with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but the phone’s main selling point is the huge 2,460 mAh Silicon Oxide battery, which should provide quite a lot of standby and talk time.

In addition, Verizon has announced that the Lucid 2 is wireless charging capable, which means that those who buy the phone can easily charge it by setting it on a wireless charging pad. However, the latter is sold separately.

Obviously, LG Lucid 2 will be exclusively available in the United States via Verizon Wireless, so don’t expect to find this one at other carriers in the country.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone is pretty decent. It comes equipped with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Krait processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

The Lucid 2 sports a 4.3-inch qHD Advanced High Performance IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution.

The phone is likely to pack a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper with advanced capabilities such as Live Shot, Time Catch Shot, Panorama Shot and Cheese Shutter. There’s also a secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

Other highlights of the Lucid 2 include: Bluetooth 4.0, LTE support, Mobile Hotspot, QuickMemo and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB). Stay tuned for more updates.
