One day after Samsung announced the Next Galaxy smartphone, the much expected Galaxy S III, South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics made official a new LTE-capable Android device, the Optimus LTE 2.

The smartphone packs 2GB of RAM, being capable of delivering great performance capabilities, LG claims. This is the first smartphone to amount so much RAM.

Unfortunately, LG did not offer info on the handset’s application processor, though we might expect it to sport a Snapdragon S4 chip, based on the latest CPUs available on the smartphone market.

The new mobile phone was packed with a True HD IPS display; however, no specific size or resolution has been yet announced. Optimus LTE 2 also sports a 2,150 mAh battery, which promises 40% more usage time than other similar devices.

The new Android 4.0 device will be released mid-May in South Korea, on the networks of three carriers.
