South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has announced today the launch of its latest smartphone, the LG-GM730. The new device, which comes to the market running under Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system, includes advanced mobile features that make its usage much easier than before, the company says.

At the same time, LG also says that its newest smartphone combines the latest version of Windows Mobile with LG’s advanced 3D S-Class User Interface. The new UI has been built around a 3D cube layout, and offers users the possibility to customize a number of four different homescreens, while the cube can be turned from side to side through the simple flick of a finger.

The handset
was showcased for the first time at the MWC show in Barcelona in February, when Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Mobile Communications, stated the following: “The combination of Windows Mobile and our new 3D S-Class User Interface will make the LG-GM730 the most functional and easiest to use smartphone ever created. This phone is a springboard for us. We will launch a number of smartphones this year; most of them will follow this same winning formula.”

The specification list of the new LG-GM730 smartphone includes HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps - 900 / 2100 Mhz connectivity, as well as Wi-Fi 802.11b/g capabilities, built-in aGPS, and FM radio functionality. At the same time, the device also sports a 3.0-inch screen that delivers a WQVGA resolution, and a 5-megapixel photo snapper that features auto focus.

Other features of the device also include the S-Class Touch UI, Internet Explorer 6.0 as the mobile browser, media player with support for MP3/MPEG4/AAC/DivX/Xvid, as well as a 3.5mm audio jack. While the handset is reported to already be available for purchase on the Korean market, no word on its pricing has been unveiled.
