Blu-ray technology is undoubtedly the way of the future and it appears that LG too is prepping its customers for a high-performance feature. The consumer electronics company has just launched its new line of optical disc drives, which are said to feature one of the fastest Blu-ray reading and writing speeds,
of 6x. These new models, which the users can also recognize as BE06, GBC-H20L and GBW-H20L, are available now at leading online electronics retailers.

The new drives come with one of LG's unique technologies, namely SecurDisc. It is said to provide data protection and content access control on all current optical formats. Even more, the new Blu-ray drives also offer LightScribe technology, enabling users to easily create direct-to-disc labels right from their drive.

"LG drives offer everyday users and professionals some of the fastest recording speeds in the industry," said Marc Sorkin, senior marketing manager for LG Electronics IT and Home Entertainment products. "With cutting-edge technologies such as SecurDisc and LightScribe, which make data transfer easier and safer, these drives meet consumers' increasing demand for a compact storage option both in the office and at home," he added.

The new drives have been designed to offer consumers a real alternative for back-up. With one of the industry's fastest speeds, the GBW-H20L is said to be capable of handling up to 50GB of data, which is roughly the equivalent of around 4 and a half hours of HD video content. The manufacturer's suggested retail price for this model is of $279.95, while the BE06 and GBC-H20L are listed at $379.95 and $199.95, respectively.

The high price tag of the BE06 model can be explained mainly by the fact that it is meant as an external drive that provides connection support through a USB 2.0 port.
