You may be familiar with the LG G Pad 8.0 tablet, an 8-inch mobile electronic device that has been up for sale for about a month. There is one thing that the product has always lacked though: 4G support. That has now changed.

In a sense anyway. Something that no one really advertises or draws attention towards is that LTE (long-term evolution) is not really 4G broadband.

Instead, it is more of a stepping stone with just a small part of the potential performance of 4G, a way to fill the void between 3G and its successor satellite-based broadband tech.

Anyway, the LG G Pad 8.0 tablet has been given LTE support by its maker, which means that you can start scouting for the new product online. Shipment might not start right away though, and the price has been kept under wraps as well.

LG G Pad 8.0 was launched back in July because LG needed something to cover the mid-range segment, since not everyone could afford the LG G Pad 8.3.

The most notable difference between G Pad 8.0 and G Pad 8.3 is that the former has a lower-quality LCD screen and IPS panel with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels (WXGA), rather than the latter's Full HD (1920 x 1700 pixels).

The integrated storage capacity is pretty average too, at 16 GB, while the amount of random access memory (1 GB) is quite mediocre as well. Then again, it's not like the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system needs that much horsepower to run properly.

After all, if it can run just fine on Smartphones with weaker hardware, it will be able to function on a tablet without any issue, especially when the central processor is a quad-core chip with 1.2 GHz frequency.

The LG G Pad 8.0 tablet also boasts Wi-Fi (naturally), plus a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front, for video calls. A second camera is located on the back, with a 5 MP quality. It will let you take photos and record videos, as awkward as it is to use a tablet for such things.

The product works on the energy provided by a 4,200 mAh battery, which should last for at least half a day even with Wi-Fi active.

Whenever LG finally gets around to formally selling the LG G Pad 8.0 LTE (hopefully just a few days), you will be able to select from black, white, blue, and orange (“luminous” blue and orange).
