Just a few hours ago, we told you that a leaked document revealed that LG’s Lancet Windows Phone handset would be making a debut on May 21 at Verizon.

However, it appears things have been moving faster than expected, as today Verizon has announced the official availability of LG Lancet.

The phone will cost you just $120 / €105 without any contract involved, or $69.99 / €61 with a 2-year contract.

The LG Lancet is an affordable Windows Phone device

It’s pretty obvious that for this price you won’t get something too exciting spec-wise. The handset arrives with a 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixel resolution.

Under the hood, the LG Lancet employs the services of a 1.2GHz quad-core unnamed processor (although this is probably the Snapdragon 410) fitted with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (which luckily can be expanded via microSD card up to a sufficient 128GB of storage space).

On the back, the Lancet features an 8MP camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while on the front, you only get a VGA companion to be employed for video calling and such.

The handset ships with Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box, and Verizon says it should offer up to 18.5 hours of usage time.

Even if in the official announcement Verizon says the smartphone will be powered by Windows Phone 8.1, we know that, at some point in the future, it will get upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile after the new operating system gets released later this year.

More Windows Phone devices are coming at Verizon

The LG Lancet is actually the first new handset with Windows Phone on board added to Verizon’s lineup in 2015, but you should expect other such devices to be coming to Big Red later this year, including the Microsoft Lumia 735.

This phone boasts similar specifications to the LG Lancet, including a 4.7-inch OLED display with 720p resolution, plus a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor fitted with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory (expandable up to 128GB).

So if you were hoping for a more premium Windows Phone handset, you still have some time to wait.
