The LG L80 Dual was officially announced last month and the South Korean company promised the smartphone would go on sale sometime this month.

Even though the handset maker did not announce exactly when the L80 Dual would be released on the market, we expect the smartphone to be available this week.

Customers in India seem to be among the first to be able to grab the mid-range, possibly later this week. The L80 Dual is now listed on LG India official website, along with its full specs and price tag.

Potential customers should know that even though the L80 Dual has been tagged as mid-range, it will not be cheap. According to LG India, the smartphone will be available for purchase for no less than Rs 17,500 ($295 / €215) outright.

Judging by the phone’s specs sheet, this seems a bit overpriced for the Indian market where customers can get much cheaper alternatives with similar or even better features.

As the name suggests, the LG L80 Dual comes with dual-SIM support with dual standby. It also provides a wide range of connectivity options, such as 3G HSDPA (21Mbps), HSUPA, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and GPS with A-GPS support.

The smartphone lacks NFC (Near Field Communication), but it comes with Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot and microUSB 2.0 instead.

Hardware-wise, LG L80 Dual is equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, which is a real disappointment considering the phone’s high price.

Moreover, the mid-range handset packs an Adreno 302 graphics processing unit, 1GB of RAM and only 4GB of storage. Luckily, users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The phone measures 138.2 x 74.3 x 9.7mm and sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) resolution.

There’s also a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and video recording. The smartphone comes with a secondary VGA camera in the front for video calls and selfies.

One of the few strong points of the L80 Dual is the high-capacity 2540 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

Last but not least, it’s also worth mentioning that LG L80 Dual will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box.

No word on exactly when the smartphone will go on sale in India, but LG confirmed the L80 Dual would be available in both Black and White.
