After revealing the Samsung Galaxy Core 2 before the official announcement, Russian blog hi-tech.mail.ru got its hand on another budget-friendly Android smartphone, the LG L80 dual.

Part of the L Series III family of smartphones, the LG L80 Dual is expected to go on sale in Russia sometime in late May for a price that will be announced closer to launch. The handset will be available in both black and white colors.

As the name suggests, the L80 Dual is positioned between the L70 and L90, both of which are now available on the market. This means that it should have slightly better features than the former, but lower than the latter.

Although LG has yet to officially introduce the L80 Dual, thanks to hi-tech.mail.ru we now know most of the specs of the smartphone, so Android fans can decide whether or not it’s worth the money they will pay for it.

First of all, LG L80 Dual is a budget-friendly smartphone powered by Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box. Depending on the price tag, the L80 Dual could be very popular in other emerging markets such as India and China.

Aside from the fact that it comes with the latest version of Android onboard, the L80 Dual also sports a large 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display. The downside is the resolution, as LG only made it so it only supports up to 800 x 480 pixels resolution.

When it comes to hardware, the L80 Dual is on the low-end side. It’s only equipped with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz.

On the positive side, it offers 1GB of RAM, which will probably allow owners to run just about any Android app or game available in Google Play Store, with some exceptions of course.

It is also worth mentioning that the LG L80 Dual offers 4GB of internal memory, along with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Connectivity-wise, the smartphone comes with a decent range of options, such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS support and microUSB.

Another selling point of the L80 Dual would be dual-SIM capability with dual standby support. The smartphone also comes with a dual-SIM switch key, which seems to have become standard for all dual-SIM devices in the L Series III family.

Last but not least, LG L80 Dual will be powered by a high-capacity 2,540 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming release of the L80 Dual.
