LG is expected to reveal at least one high-end Android smartphone early next month at IFA 2014 trade fair, but we shouldn’t rule out the chance of seeing a few mid-range devices as well.

However, until then, it looks like the South Korean company has introduced a new lineup of Android smartphones. After announcing the Series III earlier this year, LG is now launching the L Series of smartphones which will debut with two new handsets, the L Bello and L Fino.

Opposite to what one may think, these smartphones do not ship with Android L operating system out of the box, instead they offer mid-range features at a decent price (hopefully).

Even though there’s no word on pricing options yet, LG has confirmed that the L Bello and L Fino will initially go on sale beginning this week in major 3G markets in Latin America, with countries in Europe, Asia and CIS to follow. More details on availability and prices will be announced locally at the time of launch.

As mentioned earlier, the L Series comprises mid-range Android smartphones, and the L Bello and L Fino are no exception. Both handsets will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box and LG’s innovative features like Touch & Shoot and Knock Code.

They are also compatible with the QuickCircle Case, which enables access to often-used functions including calling, text messaging, music and camera from the window without having to open the cover.

On the inside, the LG L Bello seems to be slightly more powerful than the L Fino. The former comes packed with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory.

LG L Fino, on the other hand, is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM and only 4GB of storage. The good news is that both handsets come with a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

It’s also worth mentioning that both LG mid-range smartphones feature an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1-megapixel front camera (secondary VGA camera for the L Fino).

Last but not least, LG L Bello has been confirmed to sport a 5-inch FWVGA IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 854 x 480 pixels resolution, while the L Fino comes with a slightly smaller 4.5-inch WVGA IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

Potential customers should know that LG L Bello will be available in white, black and gold, whereas the LG L Fino will go on sale in white, black, gold, red and green.

“With their competitive specs and accessible pricing, we have high hopes for the L Fino and L Bello to continue our successful expansion into emerging markets.

Our newest L Series smartphones represent the best of LG in design, hardware and UX as well as our commitment to bringing best smartphone experience to 3G customers as many as possible,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
