LG's portfolio of music-oriented handsets is continuously growing, and the latest phone to target music lovers is the LG KP265, recently announced in Russia. Although this new LG looks quite nice, coming in a slider form factor, its features are not too advanced, making it an entry-level device.

LG wants the KP265 to answer the needs of young mobile users who can't afford to pay too much for a handset but still want "to be cool."

The highlights of KP265 include: music player with support for MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+ files, stereo speakers, Bluetooth 2.0 and FM radio. There is also a video player (supporting MPEG4, H.263 and WMV), but I'm not sure how useful it can be. That's because, although it supports 262K colors, the display of KP265 is a pretty small one: only 1.8 inches and 128 x 160 pixels.

The rest of the features that LG KP265 brings include: tri-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS (there's no EDGE, nor 3G), a 1.3 Megapixel camera with auto focus and video recording, Web browser, email, Instant Messaging, SMS and MMS capabilities, polyphonic ringtones and USB 2.0. The slider only has 5MB of internal memory, but it can be expanded with a microSD card.

When not slid, the new LG measures 96 x 45.5 x 16.5 millimeters. The battery included in the phone is a 900 mAh one, but its performances are not known (they can't be too advanced anyway).

At first, LG KP265 will be commercially available in Russia, starting the next few days, for a retail price of 4,100 Russian rubles ? meaning about 110 Euros or 175 USD. No word yet on the other countries where the handset will be available, but LG will probably release it soon in most of the European markets.
