In Europe for the moment

LG KF700, the good looking device first announced in February during MWC 2008, was yesterday officially launched by LG. The handset is now available across Europe, although the South Korean producer didn't mention its retail price, nor the countries and operators that offer the phone.

KF700 is presented by LG as the first mobile phone to offer three different data input methods: a touchscreen, a regular alpha-numeric keypad, and a "shortcut dial", the last one being placed on the back of the phone, allowing users to easily scroll through functions as well as to adjust the music volume or zoom in when browsing the Web.

LG KF700 comes with lots of high-end features, including a 3 inch TFT touchscreen display with 256K colors and 240 x 480 pixels, tri-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz), 3G/HSDPA for data transfer speeds of up to 7.4 Mbps, a full Internet browser for quick access to Maps, Blogs, YouTube and Google, Media player, a 3 Megapixel camera with image stabilizer, auto focus and video recording, Bluetooth (only 1.2, apparently) and microSD card support.

Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company, had this to say about the new slider: "We realize that touchscreens are a wonderful advancement, but they are not the solution for every problem or every user. We looked beyond just touch when designing the LG-KF700 and studied how people actually use their phones. The LG-KF700's three separate input methods provide unmatched convenience and mean that users don't have to give up anything to gain a touchscreen."

LG KF700 can be bought in two color versions: black / silver and black / chrome. As we already mentioned, the phone's price is unknown at this moment, but it's surely not an affordable one. After Europe, other markets will get the KF700 too, says LG, probably referring to Asia. As for North America, users from there will have the chance to own a KF700 only if LG makes a new version of the phone, as the current 900 / 1800 / 1900 GSM one is not compatible with their networks.
