The Google Glass may have even more rivals than anyone thought

LG has filed a new trademark, one that suggests that it, too, wants to enter the wearable gadget market.

Said trademark doesn't really have anything in it to fuel speculation much, but the name is pretty informative: Glasstic.

The trademark was filed on November 14 and may indicate a foil to the Google Glass augmented reality headset. Then again, it might not.

Still, it's unlikely not to be any relation there, because the “Good and Services” section of the filing mentions mobile phones, clocks and even spectacles.

So maybe LG is making some sort of mountable lenses or screens that can be integrated in regular glasses, like high-tech monocles.

Ultimately, we can only wait and see if LG says anything on the matter. Sadly, I doubt that will happen this year, and even CES 2013 is a tossup.
