South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has launched its first Android-based handset on the market in Italy too, where it arrived under the name of LG LinkMe. Only last month, the company announced the release of the device on the UK market, where it is available as the LG InTouch Max, and now it expanded its availability on a new European market.

The LG LinkMe landed in Italy with Android 1.5 on board, the same as the original GW620, and is priced at €299 (around $400). Although a rather affordable device, the LG GW620 still packs a lot of appealing features, including a 3-inch resistive touchscreen display that boasts a 320 x 480 pixel (HVGA) resolution, and a side sliding QWERTY keyboard.

The specifications list of LG's Android mobile phone also includes a 5.0-megapixel photo snapper with 4x zoom capabilities and video recording, an ARM11 processor inside, coupled with 512 MB of NAND flash memory and 256 MB of SDRAM RAM, a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

Other specs of the handset also include HSPA connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and USB 2.0 capabilities, built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS, FM Radio, 3.5mm headset jack, support for SMS, MMS, EMS, Email (SMTP, POP3) and IM, as well as media player with support for AAC, AAC+, AMR, MP3, WAV and WMA audio files and for DivX, H.263, H.264, MP4 and WMV video files.

At the same time, the LG LinkMe also comes with full HTML browser and with access to the Android Market and to other Google services, as well as with LinkBook, delivering easy access to social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to users.
