LG is hosting a media event towards the end of the month

LG is quite busy these days prepping for the launch of its next flagship, the G4. On top of that, the Korean tech giant is also working on a new flagship line, which will supposedly be placed above the G4 family, dubbed the G4 Note family (it will bundle a digitizer, probably).

Today, LG gives us another hint related to its next-gen top tier device. The company’s subsidiary LG Display has rolled out a new 5.5-inch QHD IPS display (1440 x 2560 pixel resolution) for smartphones.

We’re told that this particular panel technology will be used in the “flagship smartphone to be unveiled at the end of the month.”

At this point, it’s probably safe to assume the company is talking about the LG G4, which should go live during an event scheduled for April 28.

Take a look at the display the LG G4 will use

So, it appears LG’s latest and greatest handset will sport the exact form factor the G3 did. However, the new panel technology brings forth several improvements, including richer and more accurate colors thanks to the 120% color gamut.

Brightness levels have also been increased by 30% (note that power consumption is not affected by this feature) and contrast ratio is 50% higher than you’d expect to see in the “average” Quad HD LCD displays.

More than that, the new LG displays take advantage of an Advanced In-Cell Touch (AIT), which translates into the display being responsive even if drops of waters have accidentally made their way on its surface.

The LG G4 has recently leaked in benchmarks revealing exactly what we have been telling you above. The phone will boast a 5.5-inch QHD capacitive touchscreen display. But while earlier rumors claimed the upcoming LG phone would take advantage of a top of the line Snapdragon 810, the recent listing reveals a Snapdragon 808 is powering the whole shenanigan after all.

This is a hexa-core chip clocked at 1.8GHz, working hand in hand with Adreno 418 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.

You probably shouldn’t be reading too much into the absence of the Snapdragon 810 on board the G4. It’s highly possible that LG is reserving the Snapdragon 810 for the higher-end LG G4 Note family.
