LG G3, the latest flagship Android-based device from the South Korean mobile phone maker, is expected to receive a hardware upgrade in the coming months, and some more info on the matter is now available.

Rumor has it that LG is getting ready for the launch of a Snapdragon 805-based LG G3 model, one that would be able to better compete against Samsung’s recently announced Galaxy S5 LTE-A, and it seems that the phone might have just received the necessary approvals in South Korea.

The new version of the device has been spotted online a few times before, but this is the first time it emerges on an official website, suggesting that it is indeed real and that it might arrive on shelves in the not too distant future.

The smartphone was spotted at Korea’s National Radio Research Agency in three different flavors, including LG F460S, LG F460K, and LG F460L, which means that it will be released through all three major carriers in the country, including SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+, as Blog of Mobile reports.

Courtesy of the aforementioned Snapdragon 805 processor inside it, the handset should be able to provide users with LTE-Advanced Cat. 6 connectivity, which would translate into data transfer speeds of up to 225Mbps.

Previously, the new LG G3 iteration was rumored to become official sometime in July, and the recently received approval suggests that this might indeed pan out.

No official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now, but we suspect that LG will indeed try to release the phone as soon as possible, especially since the aforementioned Galaxy S5 LTE-A has been already announced for South Korea.

The one thing that remains to be seen is whether LG will make other modifications to the upcoming handset variant, in addition to packing it with a faster, more powerful processor.

The LG G3 was released with a 5.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a Quad HD resolution, as well as with a 13-megapixel camera on the back, with 4K video recording capabilities. A 2MP front camera for video calling was also included on the handset.

LG G3 was made official in two versions, one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and the other with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of memory inside. Both feature a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, as well as the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS loaded on top.
