Users in Canada will enjoy the security application

LG G3, the flagship Android-based handset from the South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics, will not arrive at major wireless carriers in the United States with the McAfee security application loaded on top, it seems.

While the handset was announced for the international market with the aforementioned app pre-loaded out of the box, wireless carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon are now said to have opted out of it.

The info comes from a leaked document that has emerged over at eyeonmobility.com, which also unveils that US Cellular and ACG (Associated Carrier Group) will have the security feature available for their LG G3 users.

For those out of the loop, we should note that LG and McAfee announced a few weeks ago that the aforementioned McAfee Mobile Security application was installed on the LG G3 from the get-go, so as to provide users with an extra level of security.

One of the main features of the mobile software is a kill-switch that enables users to easily erase all data on the phone in the event that it is lost or stolen.

At the same time, the mobile app is capable of preventing unauthorized factory resets and rooting attempts, requiring password authentication when someone tries to perform such actions.

Overall, the inclusion of this software in the LG G3 seems like a great option for users, especially since the capabilities of the app are available for free for five years to all those who will purchase the smartphone.

Thus, it comes as a surprise that said US carriers have decided to go against it. However, since no official confirmation on their plans on the matter has been provided as of now, we’ll have to wait and see whether things will indeed turn out this way.

In the meantime, however, we should also note that the aforementioned leaked document also confirms the fact that LG G3 will be released in Canada on the networks of various wireless carriers there, including Bell, Rogers, WIND Mobile, and Videotron.

Most carriers in other countries out there will release the flagship mobile phone with the kill-switch feature enabled right from the start, as another leaked document, available courtesy of @upleaks this time, shows.

Unfortunately, as mylgphones notes in a recent post, no specific info on the availability of the smartphone at these wireless carriers has been provided as of now.

However, based on LG’s official announcement regarding G3’s global availability, we might see the handset released in North America sometime before the end of the next month. Hopefully, more info on the matter will emerge soon, so keep an eye on this space to learn the news.
