It might not get any major updates until next year

Those with LG G3 smartphones are surely disappointed by how the South Korean company has managed the Android updates for this particular model.

After releasing a botched Android 5.0 Lollipop update that added various bugs and issues like battery drainage, random Wi-Fi disconnections and sluggishness and many other problems, LG delivered yet another update that should repair everything.

The latest update does not upgrade the phone's software to Android 5.1 Lollipop like the G4 for example. And if we are to take into consideration the latest reports, the LG G3 will never be updated with this version of Android.

According to Greek blog TechValue, LG Hellas confirmed the G3 wouldn't receive the highly anticipated Android 5.1 Lollipop update.

It's unclear if the statement is only valid for Greece or we should expect LG G3 not to get Android 5.1 Lollipop anywhere in the world.

Android 5.1 might still be available in some countries

Unfortunately, LG Hellas did not offer any additional info on the matter, so we don't know what's causing LG to skip this update for the G3.

One theory is that the South Korean company feels that it's better to work on an Android M upgrade that will probably be launched next year, rather than focus its resources on Android 5.1 Lollipop which will be old news in 2016.

This would not be the first time that LG G3 skips a few more or less important Android updates. Let's not forget that the smartphone was directly updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop from KitKat 4.4.2.

So, there's a high chance the LG G3 will be upgraded directly to Android M shortly after the new OS is made available by Google.

Still, we recommend our readers to take this information with a grain of salt until LG provides us with more hints on what's to come.
