Following a variety of rumors and leaks, the LG G3 Cat. 6 smartphone is finally official in South Korea, set to become available for purchase in the country as soon as July 25.

Today, LG Electronics lifted the veil off this smartphone, confirming that it would arrive on shelves with a Snapdragon 805 processor, just as previous reports on the matter have suggested.

Courtesy of the new processor, the LG G3 Cat. 6 will be able to provide users with support for LTE-Advanced networks in the country, with data download speeds of up to 225Mbps.

The new smartphone variant, previously expected to land on shelves as LG G3 Prime, is LG’s response to the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A, which was made official only several weeks ago with the same Snapdragon 805 processor inside.

However, it appears that the upgraded chipset was the only thing that was changed inside the new device flavor and that the rest of its specs will remain unchanged when compared to those available inside the original LG G3.

The handset features a large 5.5-inch IPS touchscreen display capable of delivering a Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, while its quad-core processor is clocked at up to 2.7GHz.

Moreover, the mobile phone sports Adreno 420 GPU, along with 3GB of RAM, for increased performance capabilities. It was also announced with 32GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 128GB of additional storage space.

On the back, the LG G3 Cat. 6 Features a 13-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization, Laser Auto Focus, Dual-LED flash, and 4K video recording capabilities. A 2.1MP front camera will provide users with video chatting capabilities while on the go.

The specs list of this smartphone also includes WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC connectivity capabilities, along with a built-in GPS receiver (with A-GPS/Glonass) and a 3000mAh removable battery.

The handset measures 146.3 x 74.6 x 9.1 mm and weighs 154 grams. It runs under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, but also features various exclusive applications and software customizations coming from LG themselves.

The new LG G3 Cat. 6 is expected to become available for purchase in South Korea in three color flavors, namely Metallic Black, Silk White, and Gold Shine, but no details on its pricing have been provided as of now.

Unfortunately, LG hasn’t offered specific info on the possible release of the device in other countries out there, and we can assume that it will be put up for sale only in the company’s homeland market for the time being.
