Today, South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has made official a new version of the LG G3 smartphone on its homeland market, in the form of LG G3 A.

The new device is set to become available for purchase in the country via SK Telecom, and is nothing more than a smaller flavor of the latest flagship phone from the handset vendor.

The new LG G3 A has been announced with a 5.2-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) resolution.

For those out of the loop, we should note that LG G3 was made official with a 5.5-inch touchscreen that boasts an impressive Quad HD resolution.

The new handset is not only smaller, but also less powerful when compared to the LG G3, as it is powered only by a Snapdragon 800 processor, which sports four cores clocked in at 2.26 GHz each.

On the back, the new mobile phone sports a 13-megapixel camera with laser auto focus, Optical Image Stabilization, and high-resolution video recording, the same as on the LG G3.

Moreover, the LG G3 A features a 2.1MP camera on the front, which should prove a great option when it comes to making video calls while on the go.

The new device also includes 2GB of RAM, along with 32GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot that allows users to add some more storage space to it.

The specifications list of the new device also includes support for LTE-Advanced networks, along with the usual set of 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, and a built-in GPS receiver.

LG G3 A has been made official with a 2610mAh battery inside, which should provide users with pretty decent usage times, although LG hasn’t provided specific info on that.

The smartphone runs under the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, yet the South Korean mobile phone maker also loaded it with a series of unique software features.

One of them allows users to control some of the handset’s functions with a wrist move. As PhoneArena notes, users should be able to assign various functions to this, such as turning off alarms, or controlling the music player.

LG G3 A will be released in South Korea in two flavors, one in Black and the other in White. Both of them will feature a metallic 3D pattern on the rear case, it seems.

No info on the phone’s possible release outside Korea has been provided as of now, but chances are that LG will consider making such a move, given that LG G3 is already available worldwide.
