One of the devices that have been long waiting for the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system to be delivered to it is the LG G2, yet it seems that the waiting is now over for users worldwide.

The OS upgrade is now available for download over the air for the international version of South Korean mobile phone maker’s flagship handset, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Android 4.4.2 was pushed to the handset in South Korea back in December, and it has already landed on the device at various wireless carriers, including AT&T and T-Mobile in the United States.

However, the international version of the smartphone hasn’t received it until now, despite the fact that it was expected to do so last month.

According to GSMArena, however, this has changed, and owners of this device can now grab the aforementioned platform release and install it.

Of course, the update will be rolled out in phases, which means that some LG G2 users might have to wait a bit longer for it to arrive. Nevertheless, deployment has started, and it should not be too long before all devices are upgraded.

There is a nice range of enhancements added to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, including some coming from LG itself, which should make the smartphone even better than it was before, the same as it happened with the carrier-branded version.

Some of these include an improved user interface, such as redesigned status and navigation bars, complemented by a new full-screen mode, and better security. At the same time, the update comes with improved closed-captioning support.

The battery life of the smartphone will also be improved following the update, as it will play music more efficiently. On top of that, there is a battery-saving location mode included, so as to deliver longer usage time than before.

The overall performance capabilities of LG G2 were also improved in this update. Applications are said to be 17 percent faster than before, while the speed of web browsing should also be better, courtesy of the Chromium engine.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat also delivers support for printing in the cloud, so that users could easily print photos, documents and the like over a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection.

LG G2 will also benefit from better Knock On feature following the update, with much better responsiveness compared to what was available to its users before.

LG hasn’t offered an official confirmation on the availability of the update, but it should make an announcement on the matter in the not too distant future, so stay tuned to learn any additional details on it.
