A new firmware release is now available for download for the owners of LG G2 smartphones on the network of wireless carrier AT&T.

The new build is available as a 57 MB file and can be downloaded over Wi-Fi networks, the mobile phone carrier announced.

“On December 3, 2013, AT&T and Samsung released a software update for the LG G2 (D800). This software package updates the baseband version to M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190034,” AT&T notes on its support website.

Unfortunately, the update does not provide users with a taste of a new platform release on their devices, though various enhancements have indeed been included in the new build.

As part of the new release, users will receive support for the ISIS mobile payment service, as well as an EAS Fix (Enable Data Encryption Policy in the device over-the-air).

Moreover, the updated firmware brings along a fix to correct “AT&T Messages name display issue within AT&T folder on the Home screen (wrapping of ‘s’ to the second line).”

Other improvements packed inside the update include a series of Ready2Go enhancements, along with better Google Maps, the available release notes unveil.

“Although there should be no impacts to settings or data, we recommend that you back up your media files to a PC, or using a favorite application (from the Play store), prior to upgrading the software,” AT&T notes.

As usual, the wireless carrier will notify users on the availability of the new software release for their devices, though they will also be able to check for it manually, through heading to Settings > About phone > Software updates.

Provided that you cannot install the new firmware when the notification arrives, you will be able to postpone the update for three times, after which the handset will download and install the software automatically.

Following the installation, users will have their devices running under Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, kernel version 3.4.0. They will also see build number JDQ39B and software version D80010o on their smartphones.
