Unveiled back in February ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, LG G Pro 2 was showcased for the first time at the trade fair. The handset maker promised that the smartphone would go on sale no later than February in South Korea, followed shortly by a global rollout.

True to its promise, the G Pro 2 was launched in South Korea in late February, but it was priced at $935 (€680) outright. Today, LG has announced that it has kicked off the global rollout of the G Pro 2, so those who can afford one should expect the smartphone to arrive in their countries, assuming they live in Asia.

According to LG, the G Pro 2 will be available in several Asian countries beginning this month, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Philippine, Vietnam and Indonesia. No word on the availability of the smartphone in India yet, but it is likely to be launched in this major market as well.

LG did not disclose any details regarding the price of the G Pro 2, but we expect that to vary depending on the market. However, judging by the pretty high suggested retail price recommended in South Korea, the G Pro 2 will not be an affordable high-end smartphone at all.

The good news is that the device comes with top notch hardware and Google’s latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. The G Pro 2 will run LG’s Optimus UI on top of OS, so you should also expect to get cool features such as KnockON, Dual Window and a brand new security solution called Knock Code.

LG G Pro 2 is armed with a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.6GHz, which is complemented by a no less impressive Adreno 330 graphics processing unit.

The smartphone packs 3GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of storage which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD memory card.

Another strong point of the G Pro 2 would be the stunning 5.9-inch True IPS+ LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

According to LG, all the information regarding the availability of the LG G Pro 2 in these countries will be announced locally.

“Asian consumers have been the biggest fans of smartphones with displays over five inches and we wanted to make sure that the G Pro 2 exceeded their high expectations,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
