The tablets are budget products with mid-range specifications

Back in May LG announced its plans of expanding its G Pad portfolio, with the inclusions of three new models, coming in 7-, 8- and 10.1-inch variations.

We previously got to take a quick look at the devices, as they were put on display at a trade show, but LG didn't say anything about when the products might make it into retail.

Now, the company itself has confirmed the smallest of the bunch, the 7-inch G Pad, will arrive in Europe this week. The Korean tech giant also mentioned that the larger iterations, the 8-inch and 10.1-inch models, would make their way into the world “over the next several weeks.”

It was revealed some time ago that the new G Pad lineup wouldn’t come equipped with any mind-blowing features and would mostly be targeted at budget-conscious consumers. The range will compete head to head to the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Tab4 triad.

The 7-incher to soon arrive among us offers the average 1280 x 800 pixel resolution most tablets these days come with; at least we have an IPS display. Under the hood, there’s a 1.2GHz quad-core processor backed by 1GB and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD).

The other models will bear the same resolution but will bring more to the table in terms of internal storage, doubling the size and offering 16GB.

The G Pad 7.0 also hast two cameras (3MP on the back and 1.3MP up in front) and a decent 4000 mAh battery. Comparatively, the G Pad 8.0 and 10.1 fear out a little better in the camera department, being equipped with a 5MP main camera and 1.3MP in the rear.

Furthermore, battery capacity has also been bumped, with the 8-incher boasting a 4200mAh one, while the latter has a more capable 8000 mAh pack.

The new G tablets will take advantage of LG’s Knock Code tech, which lets you unlock your tablet based on a pre-set pattern of taps on the device’s screen. It also has QPair 2.0 that allows you to pair the tablet with a mobile phone, so you’ll be able to answer your phone calls right from the slate.

LG will be making the tablets available in a bunch of vivid colors, but there’s also the black and white option if you’re feeling traditional. But you’ll also be given the choice between luminous orange and luminous blue and since its summer already, why not go with something more sun-filled.

As a last note, we still haven’t been told what the price for the tablets will be.
