Today, LG Electronics has officially announced the availability of a new smartphone on the market in Australia, in the form of LG F70, which has been released exclusively on the network of Optus, with support for its 4G LTE network.

The new device is set to be put up for sale through the carrier’s Yes Optus stores, as well as via telesales and online, with a price tag of $264 (€182) outright attached to it.

As Ausdroid notes, the handset is available only in Black but can also be purchased on the $35 (€24) Optus MyPlan, with no handset repayments.

The new mobile phone arrives on the market with a 4.5-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, paired with 1GB of RAM.

Moreover, the handset packs 4GB of internal memory, while also featuring a microSD memory card slot, so as to enable users to add some more storage space to it.

On the back, the smartphone sports a 5-megapixel camera capable of video recording, complemented by a VGA front camera to enable users to make video calls while on the go.

LG F70 has also been announced with support for 2G: 850/900/2100/1900MHz, 3G (WCDMA): 900/2100MHz, and 4G (LTE): 1800/2300 TDD/2600MHz, as well as with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and with a built-in GPS receiver. The usual set of sensors has also been included.

Moreover, it is powered by a 2440mAh removable battery, measures 127.5 x 66.4 x 9.9mm, and weighs 129.6 grams. The handset runs under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system right from the start.

“The F70 epitomizes LG’s commitment to offering customers optimized performance, beautiful design and a superior user experience at affordable prices,” Lambro Skropidis, general manager marketing for LG Electronics Australia, has reportedly said.

“Bringing the handset to market on the Optus’ 4G Network further demonstrates LG’s 4G LTE device capabilities and will provide our customers with a mobile experience that is sure to impress.”

The new LG F70 will also arrive on shelves with many of the features and capabilities that other devices in LG’s lineup sport, including KnockCode, Plug and Pop, and QSlide apps.

Overall, this looks like an appealing device, especially considering the specs it features and the price tag it has been announced with, which could easily make it a great selling device.
